For many, Halloween is the best holiday of the year. It’s a time for creepy costumes, scary movies, and heart-stopping attractions specifically designed to put your nerves to the ultimate test. Although every town has its own locally-operated haunted house, a few of the nation’s bigger theme parks are offering up Hollywood-style frights for those who are willing to make the journey.
“Haunted and seasonal theming is growing in popularity not only for theme parks and amusement parks, but also at water parks, zoos, aquariums, museums, science centers and family entertainment centers,” International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions spokesperson Colleen Mangone explained to the Associated Press . “So families have a lot of choices for celebrating the Halloween season at parks and attractions.”
According to Examiner , Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights is back in action this year with all-new attraction based on a popular television program. This year, Halloween enthusiasts can enjoy a brisk walk through a maze inspired by AMC’s The Walking Dead , an area that’s teeming with legions of the undead. Not only has the show been given its very own maze, the program will serve as the theme for this year’s terror tram.
The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that Universal Studios is also offering up a Silent Hill -themed attraction, which borrows heavily from director Christophe Gans’ underrated 2006 video game adaptation. Judging from the pictures that have been made available to the public, the attraction promises to give those with unshakable nerves an opportunity to put their money where their mouth is this Halloween.
In addition to the aforementioned Universal Studios Halloween attractions, Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio has Hallo-Weekends, Busch Gardens is hosting Howl-O-Scream in Tampa, Florida, and Coney Island in Brooklyn, New York is giving Halloween enthusiasts an opportunity to experience the Nights of Horror at Luna Park.
