A Guinness beer commercial celebrated the Fourth of July by remembering those who make it possible for Americans to maintain their independence.
In a related report by The Inquisitr , U.S. military enlistment recruiters reportedly reject 71 percent percent of all applicants for all branches of the military. A former U.S. marine who is jailed in Mexico has bikers riding out to the Mexican border in order to stop all traffic as a form of protest.
According to AdWeek, “BBDO New York teamed up again with Biscuit Filmworks director Noam Murro, who directed last fall’s brilliant “Basketball” spot. Once again the delayed reveal is deftly handled, and it’s an approach that nicely embodies the tagline. The ads themselves, like the everyday heroes they celebrate, are “Made of More” than they seem at first—rewarding the viewer for sticking with them.”
Although I’ll try not to ruin it for you, the Guinness beer commercial makes its point by having a pub where a beer is served each table at a table near the entrance. No one is allowed to sit at the table and it’s seemingly reserved for someone special whom they are awaiting. But the message becomes very clear at the end…
Guinness even made its point clear in the description of the video on the ad’s YouTube page:
“Guinness ‘Empty Chair’ salutes the character of a community as they honor one of their own who is out of sight, but not out of mind,” Guinness writes. “They remind us that a true test of character is what you do when no one’s looking.”
