So much for light and sunshine on the new season of Grey’s Anatomy . Dr. April Kepner just returned from overseas humanitarian work to attend to her crumbling marriage when it is discovered she might be harboring a deadly disease, and that’s just for starters. It’s not common that Shonda Rhimes makes one of her doctors the main patient, but when she does, it’s never just a broken wrist or a mild fever.

But according to the Inquisitr , in the background, Owen is still working an angle to reunite with Amelia, though if actor Kevin McKidd had his way, Sandra Oh’s Dr. Cristina Yang would be back in the picture and return to Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital.

“If I could be Shonda for a day, I’d bring Cristina back for a few episodes and see what that did to the relationships — and especially Owen,” McKidd answered, adding, “I would also introduce a long-running villainous character to the show.”

The International Business Times is reporting that the doctors are suspicious that April Kepner has contracted MERS (Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome) while out of the country. Arizona notices a rash on April’s back and panics.

“What the hell is that? On your back?” Arizona screams as she reaches for a surgical mask to protect herself from whatever disease April may be carrying.

“I have a rash. It’s a stupid rash. You’re completely overreacting,” April says to Bailey (Chandra Wilson), who orders April to be locked away.

But the hospital won’t take any chances, and Bailey orders a quarantine.

“Kepner, you have lesions, a cough, a fever. You were in the Middle East!” Bailey states, adding that the redheaded doc can come out of confinement when her sickness is diagnosed.

“This is my first day running this place,” Bailey says. “There will be no epidemics today!”

Could this be what brings April and Jackson back together, or will this disease be the end of April?

The next episode is called “ Walking Tall ,” which is likely a play on words about Bailey’s first day as chief (Bailey is a bit height challenged, but makes up for it in attitude), according to the International Business Times . Bailey is thrown into the deep end with a plague that threatens Seattle, and everyone who has come in contact with April. Meanwhile, Meredith is struggling with all of her responsibilities.

Also, Owen and Amelia continue to tiptoe around each other, trying to anticipate the other’s next move.

The Christian Post states that there will also be an adjustment period between Bailey and the other doctors, who have come to think of her as their equal, rather than her superior. Now that “old Bailey” is back, with the reputation (they called her “the Nazi”), there are several people who are put off by her bullying demeanor. Callie is particularly ticked off.

“It seems that the promotion is quickly getting to her head and is changing Dr. Bailey’s interaction with her colleagues. Jackson Avery, Catherine’s son, will also be affected negatively by her behavior and an argument will ensue between the two, the report details.”

Working out the dynamics within the staff of Grey-Sloan will continue to be a major theme on this season’s Grey’s Anatomy . Will Bailey ever be able to work smoothly with he colleagues, or will they go back to calling her “The Nazi”?
