A-list couple Josh Duhamel and Fergie confirmed that they split months even before the actual announcement was publicized in September. But according to the former Black Eyed Peas member, getting a divorce was never her plan and she didn’t want to split from Josh in the first place.
Fergie almost broke down while talking about her relationship with the Transformers actor on the set of the Wendy Williams Show , as reported by People . She told the host how she thought she had found the love of her life with whom she would stay “together forever.” Unfortunately, things didn’t work out for Fergie and Josh.
“It wasn’t my plan. I wanted to stay together forever.”
The 42-year-old also told Williams that her being interviewed about the split made her tear up. Things got even more emotional for Fergie when her son with Josh, 4-year-old Axl, became the subject. She was visibly upset before she admitted that there’s still love for her ex.
“I love Josh, he’s the father of my child, we forever have that project together and we’re doing the best we can.”
Fergie and Duhamel split in February of this year, but no one knew, except those who are close to couple. Fans were surprised when the joint statement was released to People in mid-September. The couple planned on holding off on the announcement, as they believed it was an opportunity for them to adjust to the situation privately.
The Las Vegas star and the “Big Girls Don’t” hitmaker were married for eight years. They dated for five years after meeting in 2004, married in 2009, and had Axl in 2013.
Since the shocking split, Josh and Fergie are doing great and have remained friends for the sake of their son. The latter recently appeared on The Talk to let fans know that they are doing their best to make co-parenting work. Both are working hard to be good parents to their kid.
Fergie went on to explain that everything remains the same for her and Josh — except that they are not romantically involved. She may have admitted several times that she still loves her ex, but at the moment, what’s important for them is to make co-parenting a priority and be great at it.
