The Canadian Internet Policy and Public Interest Clinic (CIPPIC) has filed a complaint with the privacy commissioner’s office against Facebook for violating Canada’s privacy laws.

The Ottawa-based group came up with a list of 21 violations under the country’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, including the passing of user’s personal information to advertisers without their permission.

Not allowing users to use its service without consenting to give unnecessary personal information is also in violation of Canada’s privacy law, the group alleged.

There are currently seven million Facebook users in Canada, third behind the U.S. and the U.K.
