ESPN’s Dave Pasch: Charles Darwin, Evolution Wrong, Quotes Intelligent Design On Live TV [Video]

Is evolution wrong? When ESPN sportscaster Bill Walton put fellow employee Dave Pasch on the spot recently by handing him a copy of Charles Darwin’s “The Origin Of Species” as a “gift,” the latter man responded that he did not believe in evolution and even brought up Intelligent Design.

In a related report by the Inquisitr , when Kurt Warner called evolution wrong due to Ben Roethlisberger, Darwinists exploded in anger all over the internet.

The entire incident started with a celebration. Dave Pasch had been rewarded the Arizona Sportscaster of the Year award and so he was given a cake to commemorate the event. But Bill Walton had a little bit of mischief in mind since he knew about Pasch’s religious beliefs.

“Here we’ve got ‘The Origin of Species’ by Charles Darwin,” Walton said when he handed Pasch the book. “We want to make sure that you believe in evolution.”

Pasch is well known for his Christian faith in the sports world, and in the past he has explained in interviews how he would respond to any ESPN coworker who may question his beliefs.

“I am pretty honest and forthright about my faith when it comes up in a conversation. I am a follower of Christ,” he said, according to Jesus N Sports .

“I would tell them how I came up with that conclusion, continue to help someone understand.”

So, of course, when Pasch was asked about his belief in evolution, he responded, “I don’t, but I’ll set this over here… By the way, I have a book that counters the Origin Of Species if you’d like me to bring it to you next game.” In response, Walton said, “I believe in science and evolution. I’ve been to the Grand Canyon.” The following banter did not get into details but Pasch said they could discuss the concept of irreducible complexity in order to “straighten” Walton out.

If you are unfamiliar with Intelligent Design, biochemist Michael Behe coined the term irreducible complexity and defined it as follows.

“A single system which is composed of several interacting parts that contribute to the basic function, and where the removal of any one of the parts causes the system to effectively cease functioning…. An irreducibly complex evolutionary pathway is one that contains one or more unselected steps (that is, one or more necessary-but-unselected mutations). The degree of irreducible complexity is the number of unselected steps in the pathway.”

Intelligent Design advocate William Dembski also spoke about the concept and referred to in his own writings.

“A system performing a given basic function is irreducibly complex if it includes a set of well-matched, mutually interacting, nonarbitrarily individuated parts such that each part in the set is indispensable to maintaining the system’s basic, and therefore original, function. The set of these indispensable parts is known as the irreducible core of the system.”

Rumors are already claiming that ESPN may have Dave Pasch fired for his support of Intelligent Design on live TV.

Word on street is that ESPN is thinking of firing broadcaster Dave Pasch for dissing Bill Walton during recent telecast dismissing evolution

What do you think of Dave Pasch calling Charles Darwin and evolution wrong? Do you think it was right for Bill Walton to go after his beliefs in such a manner?
