Ed Sheeran is continuing his streak of collaborations with other artists. Ed recently recorded two new tracks with French DJ and producer David Guetta.
According to Billboard, Ed Sheeran wrote two original songs for the other artist to sing. He and David Guetta went into the studio to lay down the basic form of the tracks. Ed spoke to Billboard’s Keith Caulfield on the red carpet of the VMA awards and explained the collaboration with Guetta.
“Two days ago, I wrote and recorded two songs with David Guetta, for some other people to sing,” Sheeran said. “I’m going in tomorrow to do some stuff for myself.”
David Guetta was the man behind the hit singles “Titanium” and “Sexy B****.” Guetta and Sheeran have an excellent combined reputation for putting out successful songs, so it will be interesting to see what the two of them put together.
At the VMAs, Ed Sheeran won an award for Best Male Video for his single “Sing.” Ed also recently released his second album, x , which made it to the number one spot on the Billboard chart in the U.K. in the month of June. Lately, Sheeran has been touring with the songs of x and doing his best to write new songs while on the road. The tracks he recorded with David Guetta came about as a result of the downtime he found while touring.
“This is the only time I can write–when you’re promoting, there’s no time at all,” said Ed Sheeran.
Ed also recently released an EP for his new song “Don’t,” which features a remix of the track by rapper Rick Ross. Read more about it here .
David Guetta is no slouch either. According to Digital Spy , the DJ has achieved his fifth number one hit single in the U.K. Guetta’s song “Lovers On The Sun,” featuring Sam Martin, has moved into the top spot, pushing Nico and Vinz into second place with their song “Am I Wrong.”
Guetta also made it to the number one spot with his songs “When Love Takes Over” in 2008, “Sexy B****” in 2009, “Gettin’ Over You” in 2010 and “Titanium” in 2012.
“Wow, this is amazing!” David Guetta said in response to his new hit. “The U.K. has shown me so much love and support over the years, since I was an unknown DJ there. To be number one with the first song off my next album is taking a little bit of the pressure off finishing it, which is what I’m doing now.”
