Saved by the Bell star Dustin Diamond was convicted Friday for two misdemeanors. Formerly known for playing the role of Samuel “Screech” Powers, the actor gained fame on the wrong side of the law for stabbing a man at a bar in Wisconsin.

Another stabbing recently caught media attention, as Sabrina Davis allegedly attacked a family member with a fork. In a previous report by the Inquisitr , Davis was apparently upset over a barbecue rib and went to jail for her actions.

Diamond allegedly had no intention of stabbing anyone on Christmas Day, and he wasn’t convicted for it. He was at the bar with his girlfriend, Amanda Schutz, and fans wanted to get pictures with the couple when a patron allegedly punched her in the face. “Screech” reacted by pulling out his pocket knife and attempting to scare the offending party, including 25-year-old Casey Smet. Diamond was allegedly trying to protect Schutz.

According to Fox News , Smet confessed that he wasn’t even aware he’d been stabbed until later that evening when talking to the police.

Amanda shared the spotlight for Dustin Diamond’s conviction, having allegedly pushed a woman at the bar and grabbing another woman’s hand. Both have been found guilty of misdemeanor disorderly conduct , while Diamond was additionally convicted for carrying a concealed weapon.

During the trial, the defense attorney asked Diamond if he liked being compared to his Saved by the Bell character.

He grinned and said he enjoys it, adding, “That means they love you. That means you’re doing your job.”

While being a nerdy goof on camera, Diamond maintained a serious expression throughout the trial otherwise. The Christmas Day stabbing of Casey Smet wasn’t life-threatening, but it was enough to get him a guilty verdict. He told the judge what he thought spurred the entire situation.

“I felt like we were being set up for antagonistic purposes.”

Dustin Diamond’s convictions could have him facing up to a year in prison.
