Donald Trump took on Ford during a stump speech in Michigan. The GOP presidential candidate told the crowd assembled in Birch Run that the American motor company is building a $2.5 billion plant in Mexico. Trump said that if elected president, he will bring automobile manufacturing jobs back to the United States.
“I would say, the deal is not going to be approved, I won’t allow it. I want that plant in the United States, preferably here,” Donald Trump said when telling the Michigan crowd how he would handle convincing Ford CEO Mark Fields to keep the manufacturing jobs in the country. “I’ll actually give them a good idea. Why don’t we just let the illegals drive the cars and trucks right into our country?”
The crowd of about 2,000 people in the Detroit area cheered Trump’s words loudly, chanting “USA” in unison.
Trump presidential rally attendee Jim Maratta, 68, was sat in the front row at the event. Maratta, a Vietnam War veteran, wore a cap with a patch representing his local VFW chapter and a shirt emblazoned with an American Flag, according to a report by MSN .
“I’ve been waiting for somebody with cojones for a long time,” Maratta said referencing his support for a President Trump. “We need somebody with guts. I want to see him do something for jobs and get those deadbeats in Congress off their butts.”

In April, Ford announced that the company is investing $2.5 billion in two manufacturing plants in Mexico. The United Auto Workers union loudly objected to the company investing in jobs in Mexico.
Ford Representative Karl Henkel attempted to counter the Ford Trump comments. Henkel claimed the company is merely “leveraging” its “global manufacturing footprint” and will continue with a plan to invest funds where it “makes the best sense” for the business.
The Michigan crowd eagerly shouted, “Trump, Trump, Trump” when the Republican presidential candidate addressed the issues posed by illegal immigrants .
“If it weren’t for me, the words ‘illegal immigrant’ wouldn’t be spoken right now. We have to build a wall,” Trump said. “Mexico is going to pay for the wall and they’re going to be happy about it because the cost of the wall is peanuts compared to the kind of money they’re making [off the United States] their leaders are much smarter and sharper and more cunning than our leaders.”
