Donald Cerrone is reportedly starring in a Boston crime drama called S penser Confidential alongside Mark Wahlberg . The movie is set to be released on Netflix March 6, according to the film’s IMDb page.
In a report by MMA Mania , Cerrone’s role in the film has yet to be determined, but it was reported that the movie’s plot will have an MMA twist. It is possible that’s where Cerrone will come in. Wahlberg will play Spenser, an ex-cop who teams up with an aspiring fighter named Hawk, played by Winston Duke, to solve a double homicide.
The upcoming film was directed by Peter Berg and is an adaptation of the novel Wonderland , written by Ace Atkins. The character of Spenser was also based on Robert B. Parker’s series of detective novels, as well as the thriller Spenser: For Hire , an ABC show from the ’80s.
Other popular personalities who have also been tapped to join the cast include Post Malone, Iliza Shlesinger, Alan Arkin, Cassie Ventura, and Bokeem Woodbine, per IMDb.
According to MMA Fighting , the 36-year-old mixed martial artist started working on the film in 2018. However, Cerrone has not made any posts on Instagram about the film nor has he hinted about it on his Twitter account. His silence may be due to the fact that he is not allowed to reveal anything yet to the public about the project.
His fight of the year is also coming up and could be another possible reason for him not talking about the new film. He probably only wants to focus on promoting his next bout against Conor McGregor before turning his fans’ attention to anything else. Cerrone is set to fight McGregor at UFC 246 on January 18 in Las Vegas, as previously reported by The Inquisitr .
Recently, Cerrone has shown some interest in becoming a part of the entertainment industry. He just starred in his own mini-docuseries, More Than A Cowboy , which is available for streaming on Amazon Prime. The series shows him preparing to face off against McGregor for their 2020 match.
Cerrone was also part of the 2017 Netflix drama Godless , where he played a gang member. He appeared in six episodes of that miniseries.
The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black-belter has been pretty busy since 2019 and it seems like 2020 will be just as packed for him. He normally gets tapped to participate in more than two fights a year. Additionally, he is also attracting TV roles, so his 2020 may be filled with many projects, which should prove exciting for his fans.
