Disney Infinity has a new bunch of characters announced! New images and a trailer reveal the newcomers.
Disney Infinity is a different kind of game, where you literally purchase figurines representing your favorite Disney characters and place them on pads that unlock the character in the video game. It takes the idea of the trading card battle and replaces the cards with figurines as you play minigames based on the character and its accompanying movie.
The game comes with two basic modes: Play Set and Toy Box. Play Set is as mentioned above, where the character unlocks a minigame based on the character’s movie. Characters from one movie cannot be used in a game from one of another, but say you have a set from The Incredibles , such as Mr. Incredible and Violet, you can use both of them in the same game. Toy Box will let you bring the characters from different movies together to explore the same world.
Disney Infinity is set to be released for Wii, Wii U, 3DS, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC August 18 or 20, depending on your region.
The new characters revealed include some surprises. New Pirates of the Caribbean figurines include Davy Jones and Barbossa. From The Lone Ranger , we have The Lone Ranger himself and Tonto. From Cars , we now have Francesco and Holley. From Monsters University , say hello to Mike and Sulley.
As previously reported in The Inquisitr , Disney Infinity will eventually include characters from Star Wars as well as Marvel super heroes such as The Avengers . This game will most likely be one of the most expansive and ambitious we’ve ever seen, possibly rivaling Pokemon in its collectible status.
The E3 2013 trailer above starts off showing us a scene with Wreck-it Ralph , and well as various sports titles in the Toy Box mode, as well as a fighting game, an action game where you literally shoot toilet paper, and a possible rival for Super Smash Bros. .
