‘Disney Infinity’ Will Include ‘Star Wars’ And Marvel Characters Eventually

Disney Infinity has long been geared as the video game that will allow kids to really use their imagination when it came to who can be in their gaming universe.

There has been quite a bit of talk about the characters that are definitely going to be in the game. Monsters Inc and Pirates of the Caribbean characters have already been confirmed.

It appears that Disney wants to make sure they are taking advantage of all of their assets. The company has been whispering that they believe it won’t be long before we will be seeing characters from Star Wars and the Marvel universe in the game.

Disney Infinity is an answer to the ultra popular Skylanders adventure game. It appears that the game is actually a little more open world than Skylanders but the format is basically the same.

In order to play as one character or another in the game, you must have the figures that go with the characters you wish to play as. The characters that have already been included in the game are just the beginning and it is because of this that this game could eventually beat Skylanders quite handily.

One of the developers that is working on the project let it be known that just because Star Wars and Marvel characters aren’t in the game yet, that doesn’t mean they won’t end up there relatively soon.

That same employee talked about how the developers would always be looking to put in characters that would draw the most interest. “We’ve done a lot of work about identifying the properties that we felt would really make the platform sing at launch.” He said.

The acquisition of the rights to enterprises like Marvel and Star Wars means that they can always add the most popular characters to the game’s universe at a later date.

An argument can even be made that using Disney Infinity in this way will keep the game fresh and popular.
