Los Angeles Clippers center DeAndre Jordan put in his bid for dunk of the year Sunday night when he threw down a monster one-handed slam on Detroit guard Brandon Knight.
With 4:33 left to go in the second quarter Sunday against the Pistons, Clippers guard Chris Paul drove to the right side of the court and threw an alley-oop pass from the three-point line towards the general vicinity of the rim.
Capitalizing on the well designed play, Jordan slashed to the basket freely, took off from the middle of the paint, and unleashed a beastly slam over the outstretched arms of Knight, who simply got caught in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Sports Illustrated notes what even made the dunk even more impressive was the fact that DeAndre threw it down with his weaker hand.
Though the Clippers’ big is primarily a left-handed player, the sheer force of Jordan’s right hand slam would have fans watching the play guess otherwise.
Following DeAndre’s ridiculous rim-rattler, a number of the NBA’s elite took to Twitter to voice their opinion on the slam.
Three-time MVP Heat star Lebron James said of the dunk:
DeAndre Jordan!!!! Dayyyuummmm!! Dunk of the year #littletikeshoop
Jordan’s teammate Blake Griffin (who has more than a few insane dunks of his own to brag about ) tweeted:
“Well boys and girls that is what you call “the dunk of the year” by @deandrejordan Best dunk I’ve ever seen in person. #turnup”
