Superstar DJ David Guetta has insisted that he no longer cares about making hit music. The 47-year-old disc jockey and record producer has been releasing music since 2002 album Just a Little More Love but it was 2009 album One Love that brought Guetta’s music into the mainstream. His 2012 album Nothing But The Beat continued the success, and David Guetta has now sold over 30 million singles and 10 million albums.

With that sort of success behind him David Guetta now feels that he doesn’t need to worry so much about ensuring that he produces hits. According to Tour Date s, Guetta admits that there is less pressure on him now because his last album, Nothing But The Beat was full of chart-topping hits. He revealed how difficult it was to go into the studio feeling that you have to come up with something that will sell well and score highly in the charts.

”It’s a terrible feeling because I don’t like thinking I have to make a hit.”

”I feel so happy now because the album is full of hits and now I can just go the studio and have fun and not make hits.”

According to Contact Music, David Guetta told the BBC Radio 1 chart show that he felt under ”pressure” to make songs that are different and believes his latest tracks “Dangerous” and “What I Did For Love” have helped him to achieve what he had wished. Guetta said, ”that’s why I took my time because I don’t like working under pressure like this.”

”The pressure was not so much about making hits but it was being able to make something different from before. That was a lot of pressure.”

”I’m very happy, I’m very proud because I think those records like “Dangerous” and “What I Did For Love” are different to anything I’ve done before. That was my challenge.”

According to NME, David Guetta is reaching new audiences via some very unexpected routes. Guetta’s hit collaboration with Emeli Sande, “What I Did For Love” was played during the closing scenes of the BBC soap opera EastEnders’ live 30th anniversary episode last Friday. Guetta said that he was honored to have his music played on the hit show.

While David Guetta may not be too concerned about making hit records, it seems that his popularity isn’t about to wane any time soon. Guetta will be playing headline sets at this years Wireless Festival in London and at Scotland’s “T In The Park.”
