Constantine, the former NBC show, is still fighting for its very existence. For anyone who knows John Constantine, they know he is a “nasty piece of work”, as Constantine would put it. Constantine’s life at NBC was cut short, when the executives passed on their only comic book entry in the ever-growing popular genre, the Inquisitr reported last Friday . Since Constantine’s NBC death, and Daniel Cerone stated that Warner Bros. was shopping the show around, one network has been a favorite.
The CW network has been ahead of the game when it comes to comic book adaptations. You could say that the CW was producing comic book shows before it was cool, with Smallville much earlier, and Arrow right before the comic book TV show explosion over the past year. So, it would seem to be a natural fit. In a tweet, Cerone said fans were “onto something”. According to Variety, two CW heavy weights are also on board .
Marc Guggenheim, Arrow and Legend’s of Tomorrow writer/producer, sees potential in the show as part of the DC TV show shared universe.
“there’s a lot of desire on everyone’s part… It would be wonderful and we certainly have a million ideas — it’s hard for me to say mainly because A: it’s not my decision to make and B: with ‘Constantine’ being shopped around to other networks… it’s really hard to make plans when a show’s kind of in limbo.”
If Guggenheim’s interest was not enough, Comicbook reported that William Shatner, Joseph Morgan, Robbie Amell, Grant Gustin, and Stephen Amell have all spoken up in support of Constantine. Amell and Morgan agreed to guest start, if the show returned. CW’s Arrow, Stephen Amell, has stated that Constantine DC crossover talks have been going on and still are.
“Now, Constantine was an NBC show. I’m on The CW. I had had discussions with DC… so not NBC, not CW… but with DC Entertainment about guest starring on Constantine when it was still on the air. And that was and is still on the table.”
So far, all indications is that the CW network seems primed to be the next possible life and home for Constantine, which would not be hard considering Warner Bros. owns the CW. So, how likely is Constantine’s move to CW? Well, Cerone did tell fans he would “make something happen”, and his most recent tweet sounds like he is trying to make good on that statement.

Though, there is no definitive timeline or network, the CW upfronts are Thursday. As Cerone explained, “upfronts” are where networks like CW announce their fall schedule. Will the CW pickup Constantine? Maybe. It seems like a longshot with so little time to decide, but if any network can make a comic book adaptation work and run for a long time, the CW is the place that can make it happen.
