Friday Night Lights star Connie Britton has slammed Mitt Romney in a recent USA Today editorial, according to The Hollywood Reporter . In addition to many other grievances, the actress has taken issue with the presidential candidate’s use of her old show’s motto.

Connie Britton and Friday Night Lights executive producer Sarah Aubrey aren’t too happy that presidential hopeful Mitt Romney is using the show’s motto “Clear Eyes. Full Hearts. Can’t Lose!” in his campaign. To drive their point home, the pair penned an editorial for USA Today that explains their problems with the GOP candidate.

Regarding the show’s motto, the duo feels that Romney has missed the point entirely. According to them, the motto was about more than just winning games. “Rather, it was a rallying cry of hope and optimism in a community where everyone had a fair shot — no matter their background, no matter their parents, no matter their gender. And no matter their politics,” Britton and Aubrey wrote.

Since the show’s motto was fashioned around equal rights for women, the pair feels that Romney has no right to use “Clear Eyes. Full Hearts. Can’t Lose!” in his campaign. In fact, the pair want women to take back the motto for themselves.

“So as women, let’s take ‘Clear Eyes, Full Hearts’ back and use it as it was always intended — as a motivator for progress, power, and greatness,” Britton and Aubrey opined. “Let’s use our clear eyes and full hearts to vote early. Let’s use our clear eyes and full hearts to tell every friend, family member and neighbor about what’s at stake for women in this election. What’s at stake for all of us. If we women make ourselves aware of the issues and make our voices heard, we most certainly cannot lose.”

The Examiner reports that the Peter Berg, the show’s creator, isn’t thrilled with Romney’s use of the motto, either. The Battleship director went on to say that the candidate’s use of the motto is an act of plagiarism, adding that Romney’s “politics and campaign are clearly not aligned with the themes we portrayed in our series.”

Do you agree with Connie Britton’s thoughts on Mitt Romney?
