Colorado Republican Blames Planned Parenthood For Shooting That Killed Three People

A Colorado Republican is attracting negative attention after she made some polarizing comments about last Friday’s shooting at a Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood. Raw Story reports that Adams County state Rep. JoAnn Windholz issued a shocking statement that attacked not only the women’s health clinic, but anybody who leans “left” politically.

In the statement issued by Windholz, she immediately launched an assault of words against Planned Parenthood and blamed them for the shooting that claimed the lives of three innocent people.

“Violence is never the answer, but we must start pointing out who is the real culprit. The true instigator of this violence and all violence at any Planned Parenthood facility is Planned Parenthood themselves. Violence begets violence. So Planned Parenthood: YOU STOP THE VIOLENCE INSIDE YOUR WALLS.”

The Republican state Rep. for Colorado also made references to the notoriously altered videos that tried to indicate Planned Parenthood was making profits off the body parts of discarded fetuses. This is the same video that accused shooter Robert Lewis Dear had referenced when he allegedly uttered “no more baby parts” after killing three people. The Colorado Republican also seemed to attempt to justify Dear’s recent alleged shooting rampage by targeting Planned Parenthood again.

“Planned Parenthood has no shame. These facts and overall mission of the abortion industry would easily send anyone over the hill who wasn’t rational.”

Raw Story writes that Windholz’s statement “showed no sympathy for the victims.” The first-term politician’s statement has also stunned others who are showing their sentiment on social media in large numbers.

#JoannWindholz CO #30 Horrible Person of The Day. Blames #PP instead of RW anti-abortion loon. No sympathy for the victims. She seems nice.

The Colorado Republican isn’t the first person to blame Planned Parenthood in the wake of Friday’s shooting. Not long after the news broke of the terrifying incident, some people on social media shared praise for the gunman. Others directly supported him over their own disdain for Planned Parenthood and abortion.

Let’s not forget @NH92276 the man your cheering for didn’t stop 1 abortion Friday night #RobertLewisDear is NO hero! pic.twitter.com/vyDG57Sr9d — Beth (@eaclem) November 30, 2015

Conservatives incensed because Robert Lewis Dear was arrested. Sees him as new conservative hero. #PlannedParenthood pic.twitter.com/ctSAA4Ujfa — Michelle (@groggygirl85) November 28, 2015

If a lunatic like #RobertLewisDear is hero to some #ProLife people, that says all I need to know about them. #IStandWithPlannedParenthood

Do you think JoAnn Windholz was out of line for placing blame on Planned Parenthood? Or do you think she was right in saying that their services only attract the violence of people who aren’t rational-minded?

Her statement has not only angered many people on social media, but it has attracted the attention of national mainstream media. The Minneapolis Tribune reports that the woman has even confirmed that her statement is accurate, but she refuses to add anything or clarify what she issued.

This statement comes on the heels of revelations that the Planned Parenthood shooter may have been fueled by his evangelistic belief in Christianity. His former wife declared in divorce papers that Robert Lewis Dear believed that he could do whatever he wants and still be “saved” by Jesus Christ. If these claims are true, then his far-right religious beliefs may have pushed him to allegedly gun down three innocent people in a crime that JoAnn Windholz is blaming on Planned Parenthood.
