In a recent interview with Piers Morgan, actor Charlie Sheen talked about a wide variety of issues, including his feelings on disgraced athlete Lance Armstrong and the need for stricter gun control laws in the US.
When asked about Armstrong, Sheen recalled that he had the opportunity to meet the cyclist once before, and that he didn’t strike the actor as “the friendliest guy in the world.” Still, when pressed about Armstrong’s recent doping admission, Sheen extended a bit of sympathy in light of his own prior struggles with substance abuse. Per CNN :
“The reason I’ve been forgiven for a lot of my stuff,” said Sheen, “is because there’s always been a feeling of honesty and the guy that at least was trying to do the right thing.”
Sheen was also asked about gun control, an issue that Morgan feels strongly about . Though Sheen is a gun enthusiast himself, he said that he does favor stricter gun laws in the US.
“If anybody from the NRA wants to look any of those parents in the eyes from that school and tell them that guns are still necessary, then I urge them to, and see how that goes,” Sheen said. “Because we’re not supposed to bury our children.”
Sheen used to be a gun owner, until a domestic abuse charge meant he would never own a gun again in his life. Via E! News :
“I was a target shooter, more of a weapons collector of a lot of vintage stuff all through the years of various weaponry,” he said. “Then I had a domestic and [authorities] took them all away and I haven’t gotten them back…I’m OK with it. I have a security team that’s pretty well armed.”
