The hit USA Network drama Burn Notice is coming to an end next Thursday (September 12). Series creator Matt Nix is certainly hoping everyone will enjoy how things are wrapped up.

Although fans aren’t quite ready to say goodbye to Michael Westen (Jeffrey Donovan), Fiona Glenanne (Gabrielle Anwar), and Sam Axe (Bruce Campbell), their adventures are coming to an end next week. The spy show has enjoyed a healthy seven-season run on the cable network.

Nix, who also serves as executive producer on the drama, recently discussed the upcoming finale with The Associated Press . Fans might be unhappy that Burn Notice won’t return for another go-around, but Nix seems to think people will really like the way the story ends.

“One thing I’m really grateful for is the opportunity to go out on our own terms and bring the story to a satisfying conclusion. Knowing that this was our final season, it gave us the opportunity to really tie things up,” the series creator said.

Bruce Campbell told Digital Spy this summer that now is the right time for Burn Notice to call it quits. He said that all shows reach a “nexus point,” which is usually the best time for a show to wrap things up on its own terms .

“The good news is, we got the news soon enough that the writers can now address that – they’ve got all season to wrap it up now, ‘cos we’ve known about this since pretty much day one of season seven,” Campbell told the website.

He added, “It’s been good for all of us to know, ‘OK, this is it, so let’s give it a good shot’ and the writers have a chance to really wrap it up, ‘cos that’s what viewers want. They want a satisfying wrap-up to a show that has these mysteries to it.”

The final episode of Burn Notice will air on September 12. Are you disappointed that USA’s acclaimed spy series is coming to an end?
