Bruce Willis is speaking out about Second Amendment rights. The Die Hard star recently noted that he does not support the gun controls laws which would infringe upon the right to bear arms. Willis reportedly does not believe there is a link between onscreen shootouts and real violence.

Willis will reprise his role as the tough-as-nails detective John McClane the latest installment of the Die Hard films – A Good Day to Die Hard . The highly anticipated movie hits theaters on Valentine’s Day. The 57-year-old actor first played the charismatic cop who creatively takes care of the bad guys, 25 years ago, Business Insider reports.

The movie star had this to say about Second Amendment rights:

“I think that you can’t start to pick apart anything out of the Bill of Rights without thinking that it’s all going to come undone. If you take one out or change one law, then why wouldn’t they take all your rights away from you?”

When detailing his thoughts on new gun control laws, Bruce Willis expanded upon the alleged link between Hollywood gun scenes and mass shooting. The actor stated that when such a connection is touted, the “real topic” is diminished, the New York Post notes. The G.I. Joe: Retaliatio n star noted his belief that no one commits a violent act just because they watched a movie.

Willis had this to say about movie violence being tied to the gun control argument:

“We’re not making movies about people that have gone berserk or gone nuts. Those kinds of movies wouldn’t last very long at all. It’s a difficult thing and I really feel bad for those families. I’m a father and it’s just a tragedy. But I don’t know how you legislate insanity. I don’t know what you do about it. I don’t even know how you begin to stop that.”

Bruce Willis’ sentiments echo those of many Second Amendment supporters and gun rights advocacy groups. Legislating morality is likely an impossible task. Do the star’s statements about Second Amendment rights make you more or less of a fan?
