CNN is facing a storm on Twitter right now, as political talking head Errol Lewis defended the network’s continued exclusive coverage of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, stating that interested parties could simply go find news about the Baltimore protests on Twitter, according to a Breitbart report.
“I wouldn’t beat up on ourselves too much about this. I mean, this is always about choices…you have to make a decision. What are you going to do with this two hours of time? And we — CNN made its decisions and it’s sticking to its plan and so forth. If people want to know — yes, 12 people were arrested, the Baltimore Police have tweeted that. You know, you can find that out now. You can find a live feed, if you actually want to watch what’s going on. It sounds like complete chaos.”
As previously reported on the Inquisitr , the protests in Baltimore over the death of Freddie Gray have turned violent. People have been arrested, and many people attending the WHCD likely passed the protesters along the way; this is happening a mere 45 minutes down the highway from D.C.
Meanwhile, most of the country’s major news outlets are covering nothing but what’s been referred to on social media as the “White House Prom.”
Baltimore is on the verge of erupting into violence, hundreds are dead in Nepal, so of course we have wall-to-wall coverage of a big party.

Louis went on to admit that it was “an odd, sort of, set of circumstances” but suggested that CNN doesn’t control these sorts of things, and that they would have everyone caught up on the Baltimore protests “by tomorrow.”
“You can find out what you want to find out, and something else is going on, the most powerful man in the world is going to tell some jokes. That’s an odd, sort of, set of circumstances, but it was odd when he told jokes on the same day that they were killing Bin Laden. We don’t control a lot of this stuff. We sort of make our best choices, and we’ll catch up, people will be informed…by this time tomorrow.”
If nothing else, by this time tomorrow, CNN will likely have to answer some questions about how they’ve handled the Baltimore protests tonight.
