Bravo housewife Kim Richards suffered the devastating loss of her former fiance, John Collett, in 1991, and now, many years later, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star is still affected by the loss.
On April 28, a Radar Online report revealed the Bravo housewife discussed Collett in her interview on Dr. Phil , which was filmed last week in Los Angeles.
“There isn’t a day that goes by I don’t think of him.”
The Bravo housewife reportedly became engaged to Collett shortly after they met at an AA meeting in Los Angeles. At the time, Collett reportedly approached Richards after recognizing her from her on-screen credits and immediately professed his love, claiming he had been in love with her since the age of 10. After going to dinner together, Richards and Collett fell in love and later became engaged. Then, suddenly, their fairy tale romance came to a devastating end, when Collett was gunned down in the San Fernando Valley — and Richards was forced to identify the body.
As the Inquisitr previously reported, Collett’s mother, Jan, recently spoke out about her son’s romance with the Bravo star, claiming things appeared to take a turn for the worse in her recovery after Collett passed. In an interview with Radar Online , Jan explained Collett’s positive influence on the Bravo star.
“I believe John was Kim’s connection to sobriety. He was tough with himself and with people he sponsored. He felt you have no control over what people do, but he felt their relationship was pretty strong. They went to meetings all the time and she had a sponsor and they were spending time with her little kids.”
When asked about the Bravo star’s recent arrest, John Collett’s mother expressed her thoughts on Richards’ lack of involvement in her own recovery, which she admitted to during her interview with Dr. Phil, after months of insisting she was sober on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills .
“She was destroyed when John died and perhaps if she had different tools she would have gone on from there. Kim, under normal circumstances, when she’s not drinking was not like that at all.”
After her late fiancé’s death, the Bravo star went on to marry Monty Brinson, the father of her daughter Brooke, and later, Greg Davis, father of Chad and Whitney.
Following her arrest, the Bravo star entered rehab, where she is expected to remain for at least the next couple of weeks.
