Depending on who you talk to, former Smashing Pumpkins singer Billy Corgan is all set to purchase TNA Wrestling. However, you probably shouldn’t buy into these reports just yet.

According to Alternative Nation , a source with inside knowledge about the deal said that the musician was extremely interested in purchasing the wrestling organization.

Brett Buchanan explained:

“I have heard from a second hand source who is close to a key figure in the rumored TNA Wrestling sales discussions who has verified that Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan is far along in his talks to purchase the company. This source went as far to say that he believes it is a ;done deal’ that Corgan will buy TNA, though the source didn’t know what percentage Corgan will be purchasing or the specifics of the deal. The source also says that Corgan has recently made a connection to somebody very wealthy, though it is not known if this party would have anything to do with the deal.”

While this report caused many Billy Corgan fans to wonder if he was abandoning Resistance Pro Wrestling for TNA Wrestling, a spokesperson for the singer said folks probably shouldn’t spend a lot of time believing what they read on the internet.

“There is no reason to comment on rumors. Billy is completely focused on Resistance Pro’s upcoming 2nd anniversary,” Corgan’s representative recently explained to Newsday .

Janice Carter, mother of TNA Wrestling president Dixie Carter, also shot down reports that Billy Corgan was ready and willing to drop a significant amount of money for the organization. According to Janice, the articles about the deal are based on “false rumors.”

“An unfortunate aspect of this business is that there are wrestling ‘reporters’ who consistently post ‘news stories’ without proper facts. I want to assure you these are just rumors and that I am committed to TNA and its future,” she explained.

The Inquisitr previously reported that Billy Corgan’s friend Lou D’Angeli also confirmed reports that the former Zwan singer was extremely interested in getting his hands on TNA. He recently addressed these rumors in a post on Twitter.

“Is Billy set on buying Impact Wrestling? I know he is pretty serious in at least partial, if not, majority ownership,” D’Angeli tweeted.

What do you think about recent reports that Billy Corgan wants to purchase TNA Wrestling? Do you think there’s any truth to the rumors that are currently making the rounds online?
