Beyonce Photoshopped By H&M Even As CEO Admits Models Were Too Skinny

H&M photoshopped Beyonce for their 2013 swimwear campaign even as the H&M CEO Karl-Johan Persson admitted the H&M models were “too skinny.”

As previously reported by The Inquisitr , the Beyonce H&M modeling deal has the singer headlining H&M for its summer gear. To accompany the H&M announcement, Beyonce also recorded a new song entitled “Standing on the Sun,” which will rotate in television adverts and become available online in May.

A source reportedly told The Sun that H&M photoshopped Beyonce photos in order to “tone down her famous curves” for the H&M ads. Beyonce’s photoshopped pictures caused Beyonce to “hit the roof” and fight against H&M to use the unedited images. In the end, Beyonce was victorious and H&M was “very happy with the final result.”

The Beyonce being photoshopped must have been on the mind of H&M CEO Karl-Johan Persson when he gave an interview this week:

“We have a huge responsibility here. We’re a large company, many people see us, and we advertise a lot. I don’t think we’ve always been good. Some of the models we’ve had have been too skinny. That’s something we think a lot about and are working on. We want to show diversity in our advertising and not give people the impression that girls have to look a particular way. By and large, I think we’ve succeeded: We’ve many different kinds of models from different ethnic backgrounds.”

That’s a far different tune than the one being sung by Abercrombie & Fitch CEO Mike Jeffries, who infamously said, “A lot of people don’t belong [in our clothes], and they can’t belong. Are we exclusionary? Absolutely.” I wonder if Mike Jeffries would call Beyonce too fat to be a model ?

The H&M CEO even admitted their previous models were too skinny and expressed admiration for Beyonce:

“In our last campaign we had a somewhat more buxom model, and now we’re having Beyoncé, who’s a bit curvier as well…But I have to be honest and say that some of our models have been too skinny. That’s not OK.”

What do you think about H&M photoshopping Beyonce just to make a turnaround and admit the previous H&M models have been too skinny?
