The 15-year-old arrested following yesterday’s Baltimore’s Perry Hall School shooting has been charged by prosecutors who made it clear that their intention is to try the minor as an adult.

Prosecutors have charged Robert Wayne Gladden Jr. with attempted first-degree murder and assault after he reportedly shot 17-year-old Daniel Borowy in the back in the cafeteria of the school yesterday. Shortly thereafter, Gladden was tackled by Jesse Wasmer, the school counselor.

“I turned around and a teacher had a kid pinned up against the vending machine,” one student told NBC . “He grabbed the gun from the kid.”

Thus far, the Associated Press reports that Daniel is currently in critical condition at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center. Roughly 150 students turned out for a prayer vigil on the school grounds, with some sporting t-shirts that read “Pray for Daniel” and “Team Wasmer.”

According to WBAL 11 , Gladden reportedly brought a 12-gauge shotgun to the school and hid it by disassembling it and stuffing it in his backpack. He also allegedly had 20 rounds of ammunition on his person. The lead-in to the shooting was also hinted at on Gladden’s Facebook page. He reportedly had written “First day of school, last day of my life. [Expletive] the world.”

Gladden’s father says that the troubled teen was bullied at school. Others who know the alleged shooter concur, adding that he is highly intelligent.

“We hung out when we were younger,” one neighbor said. “They’re all real nice people, always asking if we needed help with stuff. So, they were always good people.”
