‘Bachelorette’ Breakdown: Kaitlyn Bristowe Tearful On ‘The Men Tell All’ Over Social Media Backlash

Kaitlyn Bristowe has taken a lot of heat as the Bachelorette, and the social media backlash is set to form part of the Men Tell All special. Entertainment Tonight reported that host Chris Harrison reads some of the hateful tweets directed at Bristowe and the men show their support for the woman they once tried to woo.

Bristowe told ET at the taping that she wanted to bring up the issue of cyber-bulling and that the behavior is not okay. During the program, Harrison spoke strongly of Bristowe’s experiences.

“Maybe a little good will come of this because the cyber-bullying, and the hate — that crap has got to stop. Kaitlyn reads these comments, and she’s a human being.”

Kaitlyn’s breakdown came after the men from her season stood up to support her against the bullies. She told ET she didn’t plan to get emotional.

“I was going to stay strong. And everybody stood up and it just brought me to tears. It was really emotional, and it felt really good to know that everybody stood behind me on that.”

As for how her Bachelorette story ends, Bristowe would say only that she’s “really happy.”

Earlier this season, Bachelorette producer Elan Gale wrote a blog post dedicated to “internet trolls” that did not mention Bristowe by name but could have applied to her situation.

But leading up to the Men Tell All special, Bristowe was still fighting against haters on Twitter.

Bristowe has been open about the fact that being the Bachelorette was extremely challenging. She wrote in her blog for People that she was experiencing great fear after meeting Nick and Shawn’s families.

“I was scared to hurt someone, and I was scared to let down a family. I was scared for how I was feeling. And now I’m scared writing this knowing my next blog will be about the ‘Men Tell All.’ How come no one warned me how hard being the Bachelorette was???”

The Men Tell All special airs Monday on ABC. This season of The Bachelorette wraps up on July 27.
