Atoms for Peace hosted an “Ask Me Anything” session on Reddit today which featured Thom Yorke and Nigel Godrich. They released a stream of their forthcoming album Amok and even hinted at some US tour dates.

Rolling Stone magazine describes what happened during the Reddit session:

“Yorke and Godrich tag-teamed the AmA – at times not clarifying who was replying to what – but they had answers for many commenters. When asked if Atoms for Peace will play more U.S. dates, they replied, “Oh yes!” but didn’t say anything about further plans. Another fan asked about the leak of Amok , to which both Yorke and Godrich gave cheeky replies before posting the link to the album’s stream.”

A.V. Club describes the AMOK album stream from Atoms for Peace :

“AMOK , the new album from Thom Yorke’s Atoms For Peace isn’t out until next week, but it’s streaming now on the band’s website or below. For those who stream via the band’s site, the music comes complete with a cool and/or seizure-inducing visualizer that has screencaps of stories about the band flicking back and forth in time with the tracks. Listen now and pass early judgment.”

Scotland On Sunday gives AMOK what seems to be pretty decent review:

“The sexier names in Thom Yorke’s funky new project will doubtless garner more attention, but the key presence is Nigel Godrich. He is the glue holding all the disparate elements together, making sense of it all.

“Despite the distraction of Flea’s involvement on sabbatical from the Chili Peppers, or esteemed drummer Joey Waronker, it is hard to think of this as anything other than a Yorke solo record.

“Judge, Jury And Executioner is a prime piece of taut electronica, while Stuck Together Pieces restructures the guitar and bass dynamic to produce a new ambient feel.”

After listening to the stream of the album, what do you think about Atoms for Peace’s AMOK?
