Ashley Darby has been very passionate about making her husband’s dream come true, as he’s wanted to open an Australian restaurant in Potomac for a while. Michael Darby wanted to bring a piece of Australia to the United States, but the feedback was always the same: the cuisine may be a bit out there for some Americans. While people may have wanted a burger, the menu offered up kangaroo. But when tensions ran high during last night’s episode of The Real Housewives of Potomac , Ashley threatened to end her marriage.
As she has pointed out several times, the pressures of the restaurant have really affected her relationship. Darby feels judged by her husband, she feels she has lost her partner in crime, and the dream of having a baby feels very far away. According to a new Bravo report, Ashley Darby is now opening up about the fight with her husband that shocked viewers on Sunday’s episode of The Real Housewives of Potomac .
“Being transported back to that day is so hard for me,” Ashley Darby reveals, as she starts reflecting on the fight where she threatened her husband with a divorce.
“There had been many words exchanged via text messages and phone calls, and the added pressure of executing the dinner caused us to erupt. Michael and I both have egos that get in the way of our relationship too often, and on that night my bruised ego caused me to say horrible things to the man that I love. I winced when I heard myself talk about massaging his feet and rubbing his back – those are the two things I miss doing the most since we shifted our focus and energy to the restaurant,” Darby explained on her blog.

Of course, there may have been more between them than just the pressures of the restaurant. Michael really wants the establishment to make money, and he doesn’t want a baby until it does. Ashley Darby has been doing everything to get some publicity for the restaurant, including planning an event where bloggers would get a chance to review the restaurant. And it was this event that caused them to get into a huge argument.
“As the night went on, I think our shared love for our first ‘baby’ brought our relationship back into focus. It pains me to see that we ever got to that point, but our neither of us is perfect, and neither is our relationship. What it boils down to is finding our unity even through this storm, and we are a constant work in progress,” Ashley Darby explained on her Bravo blog, revealing that they haven’t found their unity over this restaurant.

Darby does have a point in this entire fight. During last night’s episode, Ashley revealed that her husband does hold all the power in the relationship because he is the financial provider. Darby has to learn how to make her own money and possibly step out of the restaurant relationship.
It sounds like a divorce isn’t on the table these days, even though she threatened it during the fight. But maybe she could learn something from this – do something completely different than work for her husband. Even though Ashley Darby may feel she’s working with her husband as she does a lot of work in the restaurant, it sounds like she will always be working for her husband if he can pull the plug at any time.
