An arrested teen helped saved a cop who experienced severe chest pains during the booking process. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution , Jamal Rutledge was sitting with Officer Franklin Foulks in September when things suddenly took a turn. Foulks fell to the ground, grabbing his chest in agony, while the teen sat there almost helpless as he was handcuffed. However, Rutledge knew that he had to do something to get someone in the room that could help.

“He kicked the facility’s security fence to make noise and yelled out for help. Officers quickly responded by cutting off officer Franklin Foulks’ vest, performing CPR and using a defibrillator to stimulate Foulks’ heart. Rutldege’s actions helped save Foulks’ life.”

The arrested teen who helped save the cop’s life was being booked for violating his probation which stemmed from burglary charges. According to Sports Act , Rutledge has been arrested “ multiple times ” since that day, but details about what he has been in trouble with have been sparse because he’s a minor. While it seems as though Rutledge can’t stay out of trouble, he evidently has a conscience, and he did the right thing when it came to getting help for Officer Foulks.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr , the department posted the following statement along with the video, which is 2.5 hours long. If you skip ahead to around the 37-minute mark, that’s when you’ll see the events go down as detailed below.

“On September 10, 2014, Fort Lauderdale Police Officer Franklin Foulks was processing a juvenile defendant at the Fort Lauderdale Police Department Booking Facility when he suddenly collapsed. That defendant, Jamal Rutledge, immediately began to kick the security fence and yell to alert officers in the area.”
