Johnny Depp recently joined a musical super group called Hollywood Vampires with the likes of Alice Cooper and Joe Perry and is slated to perform in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. But before hitting the stage, Depp and his wife, Amber Heard, stopped to help with a charity effort to bring that music to the ears of Brazilian citizens who had never heard any music at all.

According to People Magazine , on Thursday, Amber Heard and Johnny Depp partnered up with the Starkey Hearing Foundation to distribute hundreds of hearing aids to hearing impaired Brazilians. Both of the actors joined in the effort to fit children and adults alike with the donated hearing aids, bringing tears to the eyes of Amber Heard as she comforted the emotional recipients.

Of course, both Amber Heard and Johnny Depp were instructed by a physician on exactly how to correctly fit the hearing aids, as you can see in the photo below.

While Johnny Depp and Amber Heard were generous to donate their time and energy to the cause, the Starkey Hearing Foundation works tirelessly every year, providing more than 100,000 hearing aids to people in need.

“We use hearing as a vehicle to change lives around the world,” says the website.

Amber Heard and Johnny Depp had some help in distributing the hearing aids from Hollywood Vampires bandmates Alice Cooper, Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum, Joe Perry, Bruce Witkin, and Tommy Henriksen. According to E! Online , the band gave out more than 200 hearing aids on Thursday, allowing many of the Brazilian patients to hear for the very first time in their entire lives. Many of the recipients were immediately brought to the Rock in Rio stage to hear music for the first time.

The Starkey Hearing Foundation claims to have donated more than 1.6 million hearing aids since they were founded and reached out to people in more than 100 countries. To donate to the foundation or find out how you can get involved, click here .

After Johnny Depp and his wife, Amber Heard, distributed the hearing aids, Depp’s band hit the stage at the Rock in Rio festival for a benefit concert featuring System of a Down and Queens of the Stone Age. Later this week, Katy Perry and Rihanna will also appear on stage to perform for a packed stadium.
