Amal Clooney was a virtual unknown this time last year, but her whirlwind romance with George Clooney has turned the former Amal Alamuddin into fodder for paparazzi and style-watchers alike. In advance of Sunday’s Golden Globe awards, the team at E! are sizing up who is bound to make an impression on the red carpet, and Amal makes the list of at least one Fashion Police star. Giuliana Rancic told a press junket on Friday that Amal will be the style standout.
“Already I’m predicting Amal Clooney will be best dressed in the red carpet. I think she’s going to kill it. She’s a fashion muse right now. Every designer wants to dress Amal. She’s not even an actress but she will have first dibs on any dress and any designer she wants. All eyes are going to be on Amal.”
Kelly Osbourne, one of Rancic’s Fashion Police co-stars, agreed that Amal Clooney is the one to watch.
“She has impeccable taste.”
Rancic went on to say that she hoped Clooney would wear a dress with a distinctive cut, perhaps short in the front and long in the back, to show off some leg. The editors at Elle seemed to agree, since their six dress suggestions for Amal’s first red carpet appearance include more than one that accents the leg.
Rancic’s gushing over Amal Clooney is interesting, since the Fashion Police host has made it no secret that she harbors a crush on George .
If George and Amal Clooney do indeed attend the Golden Globes together Sunday, it will be their first red carpet appearance as a couple. George is due to receive the Cecil B. DeMille award for his “outstanding contributions” to entertainment. Good Wife star and Clooney’s ex-television flame from ER , Julianna Margulies, is set to make the presentation with Don Cheadle.
But just because George is getting a big award does not necessarily mean his lawyer wife will be on his arm. The Daily Mail said simply that Amal Clooney is “rumored” to be attending the Golden Globes with her husband. George did not attend the Globes at all last year.
As for Fashion Police , the E! program will debut a new season Monday, conveniently after the Golden Globes broadcast. New hosts Kathy Griffin and Brad Goreski will join Rancic and Osbourne. The cast shakeup came after the unexpected passing of Joan Rivers last year.
