On Friday, the weekend-long festivities that will lead up to Clooney and Alamuddin tying the knot kicked off with a high-class affair in Venice.
Pictures published in the Daily Mail reveal celebrities Matt Damon, Cindy Crawford, and Vogue editor Anna Wintour were at the dinner at Hotel Cipriani. According to the publication, Wintour got the invite after Vogue secured the rights to Clooney and Alamuddin’s wedding photos, reportedly paying £1 million, or approximately $1.6 million. The couple plans to donate the funds to charity and have forbidden unofficial photos of the event, including cell phone snaps.
The Daily Mail also reported Clooney and Alamuddin will actually say their vows on Monday. The paper called Friday night’s event a rehearsal dinner, and confirmed there are many more festivities planned for the rest of the weekend. However, Us Weekly reports different information , insisting the wedding will be on Saturday and that the events on Friday were bachelorette and bachelor parties. Indeed, pictures published by The Mail show the women and men proceeded to split up into different boats and were taken to different venues after leaving the Hotel Cipriani.
An E! Online report may clear up the mystery. The website quotes an unnamed source who says the couple will have a symbolic ceremony Saturday night and a civil ceremony on Monday. After the event on Monday, the pair will be officially married. As previously reported by The Inquisitr , Clooney’s close friend Walter Veltroni is set to perform the wedding ceremony , and according to E! Online , that is likely to be the one on Saturday evening.
E! Online also spotted Emily Blunt and John Krasinski at the event. Amal looked happiest surrounded by her family, including her mother, journalist Baria Alamuddin, who was close by her side. The elder Alamuddin wore a tasteful, off-the-shoulder blue gown.
Amal looked striking with a bold red dress that matched her bright lipstick, which in turn highlighted her beaming smile. Alamuddin seemed to be glowing with happiness as she made her way out of the Cipriani to a waiting boat.
This is a far classier wedding for Clooney than his last, which was, according to The Daily Mail, officiated by an Elvis impersonator. Clooney is 53 and Alamuddin in 36.
