The Al Jazeera America network has been in the news as of late for lawsuits. The Inquisitr reported that the network sued AT&T back in 2013. Later on, Al Gore would get involved with them by slapping a lawsuit of his own, in which he blamed the network for committing fraud. There is more to report about Al Jazeera America, such as one of their stories being deleted when it claimed the public beheadings on television were staged, and that Hillary Clinton wants the new media outlets to be more like them.

New reports show that Al Jazeera America is now suing Al Gore over the controversial sale of Current TV, as reported by The Blaze .

The Blaze also quoted The Associated Press on the details of the lawsuit, in which they summarize Al Gore’s lawsuit, why Al Jazeera America is suing Al Gore, and what percentage of Current TV is owned by whom.

“The parties are fighting over money that is being held in escrow. The former vice president and [Joel Hyatt], the founder of Hyatt Legal Services, sued the network last month saying that it was improperly withholding tens of millions of dollars placed in escrow when Al Jazeera bought Current TV for $500 million.

“Al Jazeera America says it is entitled to the money because Gore and Hyatt agreed to indemnify the network for claims made against Current TV, but didn’t live up to their promise. It accuses the pair of “misrepresentations” and says they received hundreds of millions of dollars from the sale.

“Gore and Hyatt filed a lawsuit against the network in the Delaware Court of Chancery. The two men each owned 20 percent of Current TV.”

Al Jazeera America is owned by Qatari ruling family, the House of Thani, and has described itself as the “envy of the industry” back in January. They instigated a wave of layoffs in April after hiring more than 800 people and failing to gain a competitive audience even with controversial articles they’ve written, such as the one mentioned earlier about the beheadings being staged.

Also, Time Warner Cable began carrying the Al Jazeera America network back in Octobery of 2013, which boosted the network’s availability to an estimated 55 million homes, up from 44 million. The network also got a huge boost when it was moved to Channel 57, which is right next to CNN’s sister network HLN.
