Tom Selleck has settled a lawsuit with the Calleguas Municipal Water District. As the Inquisitr reported, the Blue Bloods actor was accused of stealing water to hydrate his avocado farm in Southern Caligornia.
In a lawsuit, it claimed that Selleck filled up a tanker truck with water from a Thousand Oaks hydrant and then proceeded to carry water over to his 60-acre ranch in Westlake Village. He allegedly did this over a dozen times over the last two years. This doesn’t bode well, seeing as there’s a current drought in California.

According to Page Six , officials delivered several cease and desist letters to stop Selleck from the water deliveries, but Tom didn’t heed the warning. It’s reported that the tank truck was seen making deliveries to the ranch in March. The first delivery goes back to September of 2013. It’s believed that it wasn’t Selleck himself making the deliveries to the ranch, but it was still for his own use.
According to Jay Spurgin, the director of public works for Thousand Oaks, he told the Los Angeles Times , “Construction companies and contractors typically obtain special meters that allow them to draw water from hydrants for large-scale projects such as controlling dust or mixing concrete.”
He continued, “After the meter was installed, the construction company could use as much water as it needed — even sell it to a third party — so long as the monthly bill was paid. Whatever water was taken from this construction meter was paid for.”

As of right now, it’s not yet known if Tom Selleck purchased the water from an outside source or from the construction company.
The district spent tens of thousands of dollars to investigate the situation, and eventually landed on Tom Selleck. The Sheriff’s Department said that it was unable to tell whether or not a crime had taken place, but Tom Selleck has decided to settle a lawsuit anyway.
Eric Bergh, the resource manager for the Calleguas Municipal Water District, told the Los Angeles Times , “We’re happy about it. It’s good news.”
According to Bergh, the details of the settlement are private, but members of the board will meet next Wednesday to iron out the details.
