Adrienne Bailon tried to hold a conversation with Britney Spears once.
While discussing troubled former child stars on her new show The Real, Bailon brought up Spears, dubbing her “the pop princess who had the ultimate meltdown.”
Bailon, herself a former child star, said that she used to work closely with Spears and that the experience was anything but engaging.
“I worked with her on ‘ X-Factor .’ Not gonna lie to you guys, I would sit to do my interviews with Demi [Lovato]. I did, like, the behind-the-scenes stuff. She can’t hold a conversation. They have someone who feeds her what she’s supposed to say. She can’t hold a conversation.”
Seems harsh, but there’s still some weirdness surrounding Britney Spears after her epic 2008 breakdown. She made a comeback and reclaimed her public image, but her father still has conservatorship over her personal and financial decisions, which is often credited for her recovery.
Still, it remains in place today because Spears reportedly has “psychological issues” and suffers from “a personality disorder.” That’s about all we know about it, and no one really likes to talk about it.
So it makes a little bit of sense that Spears might be hard to talk to.
Co-host Loni Love had a slightly more supernatural explanation for Spears’ troubles: Karma.
“Miss Britney Spears took a dude that was already with a girl that had babies,” Love said, referring to Kevin Federline. “And sometimes when you do that kind of stuff and take a dude, that’s called karma.”
