The winning numbers for the Powerball jackpot were drawn on Saturday, but it appears that no one was the winner this time around. Therefore, Wednesday’s jackpot has been estimated at about $400 million.

The numbers were 21-24-36-42-45 and a Powerball 15. Saturday’s jackpot hit $300 million and would have been worth almost $173 million if taken as a lump sum before taxes.

While the top prize wasn’t taken, NBC News reports that tickets worth $2 million each were sold in Florida and Texas . Five states saw $1 million tickets sold.

The odds of winning the Powerball are a meager one in 175.2 million. But that didn’t stop millions of Americans from heading out to the stores to test their luck, even employing their own superstitious tactics to ensure their unlikely victories.

Despite superstitious rituals, the odds of winning the Powerball remain the same. However, if you are looking to one-up the competition, ABC News notes that more Powerball winners have relied on randomized numbers generated by the computer to ensure their success, rather than picking their own.

Perhaps that is why almost 80 percent of all ticket purchasers let the computer pick for them. But others rely on important dates like birthdays and anniversaries, believing these numbers will help them win big.

And as the Powerball jackpot skyrockets again, it is likely more and more Americans will go to their local markets and gas stations to purchase a $1 ticket. Some will even go so far as to cross state lines and line up at a market where a winning ticket was purchased in the past.

The Powerball jackpot record was $590 million and was won this June by 84-year-old Gloria C. Mackenzie . The explained in a statement that another lottery player was kind enough to let her go in front of them to get her Quick Pick ticket. Mackenzie chose the lump sum cash payout and went home with $370.8 million before taxes.

Are you purchasing a ticket for Wednesday’s expected $400 million Powerball jackpot? If so, do you have any superstitions about the game?
