Nestle Pizza Company is recalling an undetermined amount of DiGiorno and California Pizza Kitchen frozen pizzas that may contain small plastic fragments.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Nestle ordered the recall after several consumers reported finding small bits of clear plastic in their California Pizza Kitchen Crispy Thin Crust White pizza.

The pizza’s affected were manufactured at the company’s plant in Little Chute, Wisconsin and distributed between February 26 and March 9 nationwide.

The problem was apparently related to the spinach in the pizza, so Nestle is recalling other pizza products that used the same lot of spinach

The specific products are listed below:

California Pizza Kitchen Crispy Thin Crust White – UPC 71921 98745; production codes 3062525951, 3062525952 and 3063525951

California Pizza Kitchen Limited Edition Grilled Chicken with Cabernet Sauce – UPC 71921 00781; production code 3059525952

DiGiorno Crispy Flatbread Pizza Tuscan Style Chicken – UPC 71921 02663; production codes 3057525922 and 3058525921

DiGiorno pizzeria! Bianca/White Pizza -UPC 71921 91484; production code 3068525951

To locate the production codes for these specific pizzas, the consumer simply needs to look for a blue or pink rectangular box on one of the side panels of the pizza box.

The production code is on the second line of the printed code and is the first ten digits of the number.

Anyone who purchased an impacted pizza should not eat it and instead call Consumer Services at 800-456-4394 or [email protected] for instructions and to recieve a replacement coupon.

More information on the recall is available at Nestle’s website .

Nestle’s frozen pizza recall is the third time in recent days a major food manufacturer has recalled a product due to foreign materials found in the food.

Last October, Kellogg’s recalled an estimated 3.2 million boxes of Mini-Wheats in the United States, Canada and Mexico due to possible fragments of metal mesh that may have gotten into the products.

In January, Kellogg’s issued a separate recall for Special K Red Berries cereal because of glass fragments found in some boxes of the product.
