Director James Mangold’s upcoming superhero flick The Wolverine has received a stylish new motion poster, according to Deadline .

The embedded motion poster is a little different than the ones most of us are accustomed to seeing. This particular slice of promotional artwork actually uses the gimmick to a wholly satisfying degree. Instead of aiming for something loud and obnoxious, the poster simply shows Wolverine holding a samurai sword in the rain.

According to First Showing , the motion poster for The Wolverine comes from the film’s international website . The movie’s Facebook page also has a new feature that allows fans of the character to create their own cover image.

If motion posters really aren’t your thing, then the folks at 20th Century Fox have you covered. The artwork has also been released in a standard image format as well.

This isn’t the first batch of promotional artwork to come barreling down the pipeline for the standalone Wolverine flick starring Hugh Jackman. An image featuring the titular superhero and his iconic bone claws was released back in November.

Hit Fix describes the film as follows:

“Based on the celebrated comic book arc, ‘The Wolverine’ finds Logan, the eternal warrior and outsider, in Japan. There, samurai steel will clash with adamantium claw as Logan confronts a mysterious figure from his past in an epic battle that will leave him forever changed.”

In addition to Hugh Jackson, the upcoming flick stars a talented cast of Japanese actors including Hiroyuki Sanada ( Speed Racer ), Brian Tee, and Will Yun Lee.

The Inquisitr previously reported that Hugh Jackman may also appear in X-Men: Days of Future Past . However, nothing has been officially confirmed by director Bryan Singer or the studio as of this writing.

James Mangold’s The Wolverine is currently slated to arrive in theaters on July 26, 2013. You can check out the motion poster and its motionless counterpart below.
