Proving there’s still plenty of life in the format, the folks at Universal Pictures intend to release Jurassic Park 4 in 3D.
The studio revealed yesterday (September 10) that the next installment of the hit franchise is scheduled to arrive in theaters across North America in June of 2015 . Universal also gave the sequel a nifty new name: Jurassic World .
Safety Not Guaranteed director Colin Trevorrow will helm Jurassic Park 4 . In addition to stepping behind the camera for the movie, Trevorrow will assist Rise of the Planet of the Apes scribes Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver on the script.
Although the studio has had their eyes on another sequel for quite some time, it would appear that the project is finally starting to build up some steam. Since Universal has given the movie a proper release date, it would appear that they’re very serious about getting this thing going.
Trevorrow spoke to the folks at Schmoes Knows about Jurassic Park 4 earlier this summer. The filmmaker said that putting together the sequel isn’t altogether different from his previous full-length feature.
“We have a very small team who we’re working with right now. It’s incredible to have Steven [Spielberg], who’s done this for decades and has such an incredible filmic knowledge and this understanding of the language of story — in a way that for us, is very refreshing,” he explained.
The director continued , “We are very aware of how much a certain generation especially cares about this movie and we talk about it all the time in conversations. It’s not about us, it’s not about our careers, it’s – how do we make something that can stand [against the first ‘Jurassic Park’]?”
Fans of the franchise will get to see how Jurassic Park 4 stacks up against the original when the 3D adventure flick hits theaters in 2015. Are you looking forward to the sequel?
