The Lifetime drama Witches of East End is set to premiere on the cable network this October.

The series follows the exploits of several witches who live in the quaint seaside town of East Haven. Julia Ormond, Madchen Amick, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, and Rachel Boston star as the supernatural family. Eric Winter, Daniel DiTomasso, Jason George, and Virginia Madsen will co-star.

In case you were wondering, Witches of East End has absolutely nothing to do with the movie The Witches of Eastwick and short-lived TV show Eastwick. The upcoming Lifetime series is based on the best-selling novel by author Melissa de la Cruz.

“It’s very different from Eastwick, and it has a loyal fan base of people who love it on its own,” executive producer Maggie Freeman told The Wrap .

The folks at Entertainment Weekly managed to get their hands on an exclusive image of acclaimed actress Julia Ormond as Joanna Beauchamp. The character reportedly spends a great deal of time trying to keep her daughters Freya and Ingrid out of harm’s way.

During the Television Critics Association Summer 2013 press tour, Witches of East End star Jenna Dewan-Tatum remarked that the upcoming Lifetime drama has the same feel as the 1998 flick Practical Magic . Director Griffin Dunne’s flick starred Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman, and Stockard Channing.

Here’s how Lifetime officially describes the series:

Witches of East End centers on the adventures of a mother and her two adult daughters, both of whom unknowingly are their family’s next generation of witches, who lead seemingly quiet, uneventful modern day lives in Long Island’s secluded seaside town of North Hampton. When one of the daughters becomes engaged to a young, wealthy newcomer, a series of events forces her mother to admit to her daughters they are, in fact, powerful and immortal witches.

Witches of East End premieres Sunday, October 6 on Lifetime.
