Blind man gun permits are being issued in Iowa, and no one saw these blind gunslingers coming.
As previously reported by The Inquisitr , President Obama’s gun control executive orders added two more restrictions to gun ownership in the United States.
In many states, gun laws require a proof of vision before being allowed a gun permit. But, in Iowa, the law technically allows blind man gun permits. Blind people are even allowed to carry around guns in public. So, Michael Barber, who is legally blind, successfully sought and earned an Iowa gun permit.
Advocates for disabled and blind people are torn between the 2nd Amendment and gun control on the issue of gun permits for the blind . Some say not allowing blind man gun permits would violate the Americans with Disabilities Act. But Stevie Wonder says this is absurd: “Imagine me with a gun. It’s just crazy.”
But Michael Barber claims eyesight is not necessary for a gun permit:
“When you shoot a gun, you take it out and point and shoot, and I don’t necessarily think eyesight is necessary…. If someone is attacking me, I’m going to be able to hear what they’re doing, and if I need to use the weapon, I’ll use the weapon.”
But blind man gun permits are not something new. Carey McWilliams is a blind man who became a celebrity for holding concealed weapons permits in North Dakota and Utah. Because of gun reciprocity laws, this blind man was able to carry concealed guns in 30 other states. In addition, this blind man successfully hunted a 225 pound bear as well as alligators.
