A Mitt Romney heckler interrupted a rally in Virginia earlier this week by yelling “climate change caused Sandy.” The heckler’s protest was drowned out by supporters of the GOP candidate who started chanting “USA! USA!”
According to The Hill , the Romney heckler held up a sign that read “End Climate Silence” during the GOP candidate’s speech and yelled about how climate change was causing severe storms. Romney paused his speech and the crowd started chanting to silence the protester. Eventually, the man was removed from the rally.
The Ticket reports that Romney was in the middle of asking for donations for the victims of Hurricane Sandy when the heckler started yelling.
Climate change was pushed to the front of the political discussion this week when Hurricane Sandy crashed into the east coast. President Obama gained a coveted endorsement from Mayor Bloomberg , who said that he was supporting the President because of his stance on the environment and climate change, while Mitt Romney has been criticized for a comment he made during the Republican National Convention earlier this month.
Romney said:
“President Obama promised to slow the rise of the oceans and to heal the planet. My promise is to help you and your family.”
