The long-rumored Entourage movie, based on the HBO series of the same name, has been given the green light by Warner Bros.

Deadline reports that the popular Hollywood drama, which ran on HBO from 2004-2011, will be adapted into a feature film with series creator Doug Ellin in the director’s chair. The film will be based on a script written by Ellin, and Entourage executive producer Mark Wahlberg is on board as well.

According to MTV , Adrian Grenier (“Vincent Chase”), Kevin Connolly (“Eric Murphy”), and Jerry Ferrara (“Salvatore ‘Turtle’ Assante”) are all in talks to return, as is Kevin Dillon (“Johnny ‘Drama’ Chase”). Jeremy Piven (“Ari Gold”) is expected to return as well, though it is unknown in what capacity (as the series finale left him with an offer to run a major film studio, his dream job).

Additionally, it is unknown where the Entourage movie will fit into the series continuity: Whether it will pick up where the series left off, be a prequel, or somewhere in between.

“I just think we can make a great movie. I think people always wanted [it] and have complained that the episodes are too short — they’ve always wanted more,” said producer Wahlberg. “I think we’re going to do it. We just have to end strong, and this season is, by far, the best season so far.”

Wahlberg revealed that Ellin had a script finished and waiting in September, and that production was expected to move forward by the spring of 2013.

“[The movie is] going to get back to the basics, kind of like the beginning of the series,” Wahlberg told Hollyscoop . “We had very strong female characters, but we want the guys to get back to just being guys… I think they were all weighed down by these strong women towards the end of the series, so we are going to get them going crazy. Everyone wants to see them get nuts again.”
