Michael Bay’s upcoming comedy Pain and Gain has dropped a red band trailer.

The flick casts Dwayne Johnson and Mark Wahlberg as two body-building enthusiasts who find themselves caught up in an extortion plot that soon spirals out of control.

The latest trailer for Pain and Gain proves that the comedy is still very much a Michael Bay film. Scantily-clad women dance in slow motion, airplanes fly dangerously overhead, and the action is plentiful. It doesn’t appear that he’s straying too far from what he does best.

The film is based on the true story of three bodybuilders who attempted to get rich quick by kidnapping a very wealthy man. Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely tackled the script, which is based on magazine articles by writer Pete Collins.

Joining Dwayne Johnson and Mark Wahlberg in Pain and Gain are Anthony Mackie, Ed Harris, Rob Corddry, Tony Shalhoub, Bar Paly, Rebel Wilson, Ken Jeong, and Yolanthe Cabau.

Bay said in an recent interview with Forbes that working on the film with Johnson and Wahlberg was “blast.” He added that both actors were at the top of their game.

The filmmaker said of the upcoming comedy:

“I think you’ll be surprised by The Rock’s performance. He’s really good in this movie. He takes on a whole new persona. What’s interesting about Mark is that he commits 100%. He become the character. It’s a fun movie. It feels different. Audiences who have seen it can’t compare it to another movie which is good. It doesn’t take itself too seriously but it’s a true crime.”

Michael Bay developed a strong working relationship with Mark Wahlberg on the set of the film. This prompted the Bad Boys director to cast the actor in Transformers 4 .

The red band trailer for the comedy has been embedded below. Keep in mind that the clip does contain some suggestive imagery and strong language. Please proceed with caution.

Paramount Pictures will release director Michael Bay’s Pain and Gain into theaters across the US on April 26. Will you catch the comedy in theaters?
