As Muslims foil a terror plot in Canada, some are wondering how these Muslims were involved in helping the Canadian police.
As previously reported by The Inquisitr , Muslims foiled the terror plot in which Canadian police arrested two suspects.
The two arrested suspects, named 30-year-old Chiheb Esseghaier of Montreal and 35-year-old Raed Jaser of Toronto, are linked with al Qaeda. The two terrorists allegedly planned to derail a passenger train in Greater Toronto as part of a “major terrorist attack.” Neither man is a Canadian citizen, but the Canadian police did not disclose their nationalities or say how long they were in the country.
Assistant Police Commissioner James Malizia said the two men face charges of “receiving support from al Qaeda elements in Iran,” clarifying that with: “When I speak about supported, I mean direction and guidance.”
Iran denies al Qaeda is operating within its borders:
“Iran’s position against this group is very clear and well known. Al Qaeda has no possibility to do any activity inside Iran or conduct any operation abroad from Iran’s territory, and we reject strongly and categorically any connection to this story.”
Muhammad Robert Heft, a Muslim community leader in Toronto, claims Muslims foiled the terror plot due to tip from a local imam:
“We are supportive and thankful that the RCMP did the investigation and was able to apprehend the individuals before anything happened. We are pleased that they took us in and explained what was going on.”
Hussein Hamdani, a Canadian lawyer, claims if Muslims hadn’t foiled the terror plot “we wouldn’t be having this … arrest right now”:
“This goes to show the partnership between the Muslim community in Canada and the RCMP [Royal Canadian Mounted Police] and all the police services.”
What do you think about these Muslims foiling a terror plot in Canada?
