“We just felt with the two breakfasts that whole notion of comfort eating and comfort food were a fit for Denny’s. ‘The Hobbit’ also has a huge following across a broad spectrum of people, including families and millennials, which are Denny’s top targets,” Denny’s CMO Frances Allen explained.
According to the Examiner , this isn’t the first food-oriented movie tie-in Warner Bros. has cooked up to help promote The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey . Not only will hungry folks be able to explore the tasty treats offered up by Denny’s, Tolkien fans are encouraged to visit Recipes of Middle Earth . The website is filled with recipes for dishes one might discover during their own adventures through this magical literary world.
“Fellow travelers, we welcome you to sample this collection of recipes for authentic Middle-earth cuisine cultivated by the Dwarf Company’s heartiest appetite. Give each dish a rating, and submit your own recipes for others to enjoy and appraise too!” the website explained.
Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey , meanwhile, is expected to arrive in theaters on December 12. The film, which stars Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, and Richard Armitage, follows Bilbo Baggins as he sets out to destroy the evil dragon Smaug.
