Roseanne Barr is reportedly in talks with the folks at NBC for a new sitcom.

Believe it or not, the comedienne’s iconic comedy Roseanne has been off the air for 16 years. Although she tried her hand at talk shows and reality TV since then, it’s been a long time since Barr enjoyed primetime success in a starring role.

Vulture reports Roseanne Barr is currently in talks for a 10/90 deal at NBC. Here’s how this thing works: A network purchases 10 episodes of a show. If those end up hitting a ratings goal, 90 more are ordered. FX worked out the same deal with Charlie Sheen’s Anger Management .

This will be the comedienne’s second attempt to get a new sitcom off the ground in recent years. Barr previously starred in the pilot Downwardly Mobile with Roseanne co-star John Goodman. Unfortunately, NBC decided to pass on the series.

Barr may find better luck with the new series. The comedy is reportedly getting a little help from Nurse Jackie co-creator Linda Wallem. As a fan of both Barr and Wallem, this writer is hoping the collaboration moves forward at NBC.

According to The Hollywood Reporter , the proposed Roseanne Barr sitcom will be Universal TV and NBC’s first attempt at the relatively new 10/90 deal. Comedians currently eyeing similar contracts with FX include George Lopez, Martin Lawrence, and Kelsey Grammer.

In fact, NBC’s pending deal with Roseanne Barr is the first of its kind on network television. Should the show become a hit for the boys and girls at NBC, chances are more deals of this nature will start coming together.

Barr continues to remain extremely popular thanks to the continued success of her 90s sitcom Roseanne . Despite being off the air for years, people love the show just as much as they did in its heydey. In fact, there’s a petition to get Netflix to bring the series back to its streaming service .

Are you looking forward to Roseanne Barr’s new sitcom ?
