Is Maternity Leave An Excuse For Mums To Do Nothing?

English model, Katie Price, has slammed maternity leave, stating that it is simply an excuse for women who are expecting to do nothing.

The mother of three, who is currently expecting her fourth baby, has declared that she will be working everyday up until her new child is born.

Price stated, “I think maternity leave before the baby is due i s a load of rubbish. It’s just an excuse for ladies to do nothing. If you’re fit and healthy you should keep busy and the time goes quicker.”

The 35-year-old also added that she won’t take maternity leave once her child is born too, telling Reveal magazine, “Like I said to Kieran, the baby will come everywhere with me until it’s due to go to nursery, just like my other children did. I don’t work every day anyway, plus I do a lot of work from home, so I’m quite lucky.”

Price went on to reveal how she will keep busy before the birth, saying, “I planned my business trip to Australia last year before I got pregnant. I spent a whole year setting it up, so there’s no way I’m cancelling it now I’m expecting.”

She added that she will also take part in a book and perfume launch, before heading over to Los Angeles and Australia, before her “wedding dress launch” and “another book.” She expects her child to “pop out” somewhere along the way.

Her comments have since been criticised by various internet users, who have stated that Price’s “work” doesn’t compare to the usual rigours parents contend with, whilst others have simply called her “vile” and “disgusting.”

Price also recently revealed that her most recent pregnancy “has been more difficult” than her previous experiences, but added, “You still have to continue. Work is work. I’m pregnant, not ill.”

What do you think of Katie Price’s comments? Is maternity leave just an excuse?
