Director Spike Lee’s Michael Jackson documentary is currently slated to air on ABC this Thanksgiving, according to The Chicago Tribune . The film, entitled Bad 25 , chronicles the creation of the King of Pop’s 1987 album Bad . More information about the scheduled airing will reportedly be made available closer to the holiday.

ABC states that archival footage was used to help create the documentary, which “focuses on the creative forces that pushed Jackson to make the Bad album and launch the Bad Worldwide Tour.” In addition to interviews with the singer’s numerous choreographers and collaborators, the documentary will feature a sit down with director Martin Scorsese, the man responsible for directing the “Bad” music video. Mariah Carey, Sheryl Crow, L.A. Reid, and Kanye West also appear in the upcoming film.

Lee, who directed the video “They Don’t Care About Us,” is excited for the documentary’s release.

“This will be a very special Thanksgiving for all families to enjoy the genius of Michael Jackson,” he explained. “This will be a very special Thanksgiving for all families to enjoy the genius of Michael Jackson.”

Movieline reports that Bad was the final collaboration between Michael Jackson and Quincy Jones. In order to properly celebrate the album’s 25th anniversary, Legacy/Epic Records will release a deluxe editions of the classic on September 18. The three-disc will contain a remastered version of the original album, a set of demos and unreleased tunes, and a disc of remixes. A DVD featuring a concert from the “Bad” tour is included as well.

Michael Jackson’s Bad was originally released on August 31, 1987. The album spawned several hit singles including “The Way You Make Me Feel,” “Man in the Mirror,” and “Smooth Criminal.” The album would go on to win two Grammy awards.

Yesterday (August 29) marked Michael Jackson’s 54th birthday. The pop legend passed away on June 25, 2009.
