Matthew McConaughey, an Academy Award-winning actor, also doubles as a Lincoln spokesperson from time to time. According to the Detroit Free Press , Matthew McConaughey recently made a surprise appearance for Lincoln at the New York International Auto Show on March 23, 2016.

Matthew McConaughey joined the CEO of Lincoln, Mark Fields, during the event on stage. McConaughey shared his feelings about the future of Lincoln and its upcoming Navigator.

“I am pleased to be here today as a previous and present owner of Lincolns, and I am excited to see this new concept of Navigator. I am happy to see Lincoln growing, and I am happy to be a part of Lincoln’s growth.”

Matthew McConaughey has been a spokesperson for Lincoln since 2014, and it doesn’t seem like that relationship is going to end anytime soon. McConaughey spoke on his relationship with Lincoln and the future.

“Going forward, it looks like we are going to continue that relationship for a few more years.”

He had also starred in some commercials for the company, which were parodied by none other than Jim Carrey on Saturday Night Live , according to Cinema Blend .

As Cinema Blend noted, in the original Lincoln advertisement, Matthew McConaughey mentions that people have to “go back” to rediscover themselves. In the parody version, Carrey jokes that Matthew McConaughey has taken a big step back “from winning an Oscar to doing a car commercial.”

As Matthew McConaughey, Carrey further jokes that his agent said, “I could understand if you did this right after The Lincoln Lawyer , that would’ve made sense.”

“Sometimes you gotta go back to actually move forward. And I don’t mean go back and reminisce or chase ghosts, I mean take a big step back. Like go from winning an Oscar to doing a car commercial. My agent was like, ‘I could understand if you did this right after The Lincoln Lawyer, that would’ve made sense.’”

Apart from being an actor and a Lincoln spokesperson, McConaughey is a family man. He knows how to kick back and make the most of his free time because, according to the Daily Mail , he was recently spotted with his wife, Camila Alves, strolling around New York . Hand in hand, McConaughey was walking alongside his wife while wearing some very comfy clothes.

Besides the park, the couple were also in attendance at the 40th birthday of actress Reese Witherspoon. Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves were among a long list of celebrities at the party, including the likes of Olivia Munn, Jason Bateman, Courteney Cox, and Kate Hudson.

Matthew McConaughey is also a fan of actress Sarah Paulson’s work on American Horror Story: Hotel , according to People . The two actors bumped into each other recently at Paleyfest, and Sarah Paulson spoke about how she felt when Matthew McConaughey complimented her work.

“It was one of the moments where I realized, ‘God, you know, sometimes you work and you don’t know that anyone is noticing or seeing, and other times you’re working in a way that you can tell that people are responding to the thing that you’re doing. This has been a new world for me to be inhabiting, of people feeling an awareness of my work, which I have not experienced before in this way. So it feels incredibly nice – and I can say it’s preferable to the former!”

The future looks pretty bright for Matthew McConaughey, although some might say it looks dark. McConaughey was recently just officially cast in the film version of the beloved Stephen King series The Dark Tower , according to Vanity Fair .

The film will star both Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey in the leading roles. Idris Elba will be playing the protagonist, The Gunslinger (aka Roland Deschain), while Matthew McConaughey will be playing the role of the villain, the Man in Black. Stephen King himself confirmed the news of the film, which was nothing more than a very hot rumor. Being influenced by eight books in the series, starting the film might be a little tough.

Stephen King spoke on the way the plot of the movie would go on.

“[The movie] starts in media res, in the middle of the story instead of at the beginning, which may upset some of the fans a little bit, but they’ll get behind it, because it is the story.”
